The Big Agnes Flying Diamond tent features a floor part of 112 sq ft and may sleep six people comfortably including a 35 square foot vestibule area. Although this tent is really a beast it carries a trail weight of only 22 pounds-trail weight includes tent body, poles and fly as well as a packed weight of 27 pounds -packed weight includes poles, fly, tent body, stakes, guy lines, stuff sacks and instructions.
The Big Agnes is a four season tent and is ideal for Boy Scout overnights and weekend warrior trips.
What I liked most concerning this tent may be the simplicity and functionality from the tent. It seems like individuals at Big Agnes thought of everything in the appearance of this system. The color coded webbing and buckles made setup a breeze along with the DAC Combi lightweight poles feature press fit connectors.
The tent may be separated into two rooms using the storable partition wall or left as one large area. The main room with the tent is measured at 112 sq ft-the dimension is 240 inX84 in with the vestibule measuring 60 inches across.
One other neat feature using this type of tent is the reflective guy lines for easier evening visibility. This really comes in handy when nature calls in the middle of the night. Both from the access doors could be staked out with trekking poles (Not included) for a lot of additional shade for anyone days when the sun is beating down.
I used this tent over a weekend trip with 3 friends and also the ease of use really started in handy when establishing when the time had come to pack it inside the tent folds up fairly easily in a pouch that’s about 2’x 1.5′ therefore it wasn’t bad to store inside my buddies’ jeep.
If we had been staying out longer, being a week, I would just have brought the tent poles, tent body and fly speculate we had arrived at a campground I just brought the complete pack. I have to say the access doors create a nice awning and give you a great base camp feel. The only complaint I have is the fact that with this particular tent it did not seem like camping since the accommodations were so nice! Haha!
I would recommend this tent to anyone but I think an ideal application would be for, like I said earlier, an overnight scout trip.
